Bring It Down Award – Week 16: Adam Thielen

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen wins our Week 16 Bring It Down Award for his 202 yard, 2 touchdown day!

Thielen’s career day was the silver lining in a 25-38 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The former undrafted wide receiver was quarterback Sam Bradford’s most reliable target (connected for 12 catches), and helped keep the Vikings somewhat competitive in this one.

Thielen made quite a few impressive snags throughout the day including this toe-tapper:

You probably wouldn’t have believed me at the beginning of the season if I told you that Adam Thielen would have more yards than Julian Edelman, DeAndre Hopkins, Dez Bryant or Alshon Jeffrey. But this year, Thielen has emerged as a legitimate big play receiver to pair with second-year receiver Stefon Diggs. In fact, Thielen has more yards and touchdowns than Diggs, and is averaging over 3 yards more per catch. Thielens career day against the Packers has put him on pace for his first career 1,000 yard season.

Although the Vikings have fallen quite a bit from their 5-0 start, they have to be happy to have found somebody to step up across from Stefon Diggs. Watching Thielen make play after play and keeping pace with Jordy Nelson in this game convinced me that we’ll hear his name well beyond this week. I’m sure Thielen will continue to be a big part of this offense next season and beyond.
