Air It Out Award – Week 14: Tom Brady

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady throws a pass against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady wins our Week 14 Air It Out Award after his 406 yard, 3 touchdown night against the number 1 ranked defense in the league.

The Baltimore Ravens defense came into their Monday Night matchup against the Patriots as the best in the league, and certainly frustrated Tom Brady for a lot of the first quarter. Brady was fired up and flustered early. But once Brady found his rhythm, he took over the game and there was no stopping him.

Despite missing All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady worked his magic, completing passes to 7 different receivers. He reminded us how clutch he is too. At one point in the second half, the Ravens scored 17 unanswered points thanks to back-to-back special teams miscues by the Patriots. Just as the Ravens seemed to be stealing momentum from the Pats, Tom Brady took exactly one play to answer, uncorking a beautiful ball to a wide-open Chris Hogan.

Tom Brady continued his MVP-worthy campaign in Week 14 to help keep the Patriots in the lead for the #1 seed in the AFC. After passing Peyton Manning for most wins for a QB in NFL history last week, we asked voters what they thought of Brady’s legacy:

For some people it’s hard to like Brady, but it’s even harder to question how incredibly good Tom Brady is. Even at 39 years old, Brady is playing lights out. Brady has thrown for 2,876 yards (good for an average of 319.6 yards a game) and an unreal 22 touchdowns to just 2 interceptions. No one but Brady knows how many more years he’ll play, but there is little doubt in my mind that he could still be playing at a high level in his 40’s. Whether he does or not is an entirely different conversation, but however much longer he plays, enjoy it. You’re watching a legend at work.
