Ground-and-Pound Award – Week 12: Mark Ingram

New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram running against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12

New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram runs away with our Week 12 Ground-and-Pound Award following his 146 yard, 1 touchdown performance!

After spending the week in concussion protocol, Mark Ingram came out running hard and was tough for the Rams to stop, as he helped the Saints put up 49 points on the Los Angeles defense. Ingram carved up the talented Rams defense for the 146 yards and one touchdown on just 14 carries and inflicted some additional damage through the air with his 21-yard touchdown reception.

Despite being in a pass-heavy offense led by All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees, Mark Ingram has run for 721 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. Ingram is averaging an impressive 5.3 yards per carry, but has also been a reliable target for Brees, hauling in 30 catches for 248 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Having a legitimate and consistent playmaker at running back has opened things up for Drew Brees and the Saints’ receivers–the Saints offense is #1 overall and #1 in passing yards. With a few more big games over the final five weeks of the season, Mark Ingram could have the first 1,000 yard rushing season of his career.

Here are the highlights from Ingram’s big day:
