Bring It Down Award – Week 10: Antonio Brown

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown vs Dallas Cowboys week 10

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown wins our Week 10 Bring It Down Award for his 154 yard, 1 touchdown effort against the Dallas Cowboys!

Although the Steelers ultimately fell to the Cowboys 35-30 in the final seconds of regulation, Antonio Brown was the main reason why the Steelers were able to even keep it close. Brown’s touchdown came on a heads up play in the final minutes. Big Ben rushed to the line motioning that he would spike the ball to stop the clock, but instead he snapped the ball and aired one out to Brown in the end zone. A.B. was even the man with the ball in his hands in the final seconds of the game, trying to make a miracle play to win it. In the end, the Steelers asked too much of their playmakers on offense after not doing enough on the defensive side of the ball to win it.

Still, the loss doesn’t take away from the day A.B. had. This was a classic Antonio Brown-type day that we have gotten so used to seeing week in and week out. 14 catches for 154 yards and 1 touchdown. In fact, we’ve gotten so used to seeing this kind of production out of Brown that it isn’t as impressive as it should be. Getting to 14 catches and 154 yards means that the defense probably knew where the ball was going–they just couldn’t stop it.

You may feel like Antonio Brown has come back down to earth a little bit after a few otherworldly seasons–I mean, the man averaged 125 catches, 1,677 yards and 10 touchdowns over the past three seasons. But that’s not necessarily true. Brown is currently third in the league with 831 yards and is on pace for 1,477 yards. He is also on track to make 123 catches and 12 touchdowns after starting the season without Le’Veon Bell in the backfield and seeing Roethlisberger go down and require surgery. With Bell and Roethlisberger relatively healthy and on the field with Brown over the remainder of the season, we should see Brown heat up and keep being an absolute boss.

Congrats, number 84, on the big day and hopefully a game against the Cleveland Browns this week is exactly what the doctor ordered to get a big dose of the stat that matters most to you–a win.
