Bring it Down Award – Week 2: Stefon Diggs

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver stefon diggs

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs is our Week 2 Bring it Down Award winner. And it wasn’t even close.

The Minnesota Vikings’ second-year receiver was absolutely on point against the Packers. It became obvious very quickly that Diggs was new starting quarterback Sam Bradford’s favorite target. But even then, the Packers secondary couldn’t stop him. Diggs shredded the Packers en route to career highs in catches and yards. Not to mention the win.

Diggs exploded onto the NFL scene by making a lot of big plays last year as a rookie, but he took it to a whole new level in Week 2. He took over the game and carried an Adrian Peterson-less offense to a victory over a division rival.

Here’s one pretty pitch-and-catch from Bradford to Diggs:

With all of the injuries the Vikings have experienced so far this season, they will definitely need this kind of dominant play from Stefon Diggs to have any hopes for a playoff appearance. The former fifth-round pick faded toward the end of last year, compiling only a combined 100 yards over the last four weeks of the season. If he can produce consistently throughout this season like he did in Week 2, the Vikings may have a shot at the playoffs.

Two 100+ yard games to open the season is definitely a step in the right direction. If he keeps moving in that direction, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him win another Bring It Down Award this season.

Overall, this was an amazing performance by Diggs. Here are the numbers of his big day:
